The Presbytery is wonderfully tranquil being tucked away up a sleepy single-track road. While only a few minutes from the A12, you feel instantly transported miles away from the hustle-and-bustle. With loads of outdoor space and blessed with beautiful views across the Brett Valley countryside (made famous by John Constable) it is the perfect retreat to get away from it all. It adjoins The Church of our Lady Immaculate and St Edmund King and Martyr which is a private and rarely used chapel (so no disturbances!).
The Ground Floor
Sitting Room – Welcoming open fire and seating for nine on three sofas.
Dining Room – Serving board and large dining table and chairs for ten.
Kitchen – Farmhouse style kitchen with range cooker, American fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and table and chairs for six.
Study – Cosy log burning stove, a perfect room to relax, read and listen to music, whilst enjoying the great views.
Indian Room – King-size bed and Double sofa-bed if more beds are required.
Butterfly Room – King-size bed and en-suite writing room with desk.
Priest’s Room – King-size bed and TV with en-suite bathroom including lavatory, handbasin, bath and handheld shower.
Family Bathroom -With roll top bath, handheld shower, toilet and handbasin.
Decon’s Room – King-size bed (splits into 2 Singles), adjoining the Valley Room.
Valley Room – King-sized bed (splits into 2 Singles), adjoining shower room (accessed through the Decon’s Room)
Shower Room – Shower cubicle, lavatory and hand basin.
Terrace with large table and seating for ten, BBQ, children’s wooden climbing frame. Extensive two-acre grass garden containing a magical shepherds hut. Although very remote, there are lovely walks straight from the door along with great pubs only a few minutes’ drive away.

Welcome to the Brett Valley, which we believe is the perfect base for your holiday whether you’re here for a short break or a longer trip. This picturesque location is absolutely breath-taking and ideal for enjoying a plethora of leisure activities for you to enjoy at your own pace.
As local residents ourselves, we’re extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the Dedham Vale countryside, so we’re always happy to share information, inspiration and our favourite activity ideas with guests to the Presbytery.
If you’d like us to compile a list of recommendations for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can do this ahead of time by dropping us a line, or else just let us know once you’ve touched base in your comfortable accommodation and we can advise on local events and places to go that would enhance your trip during the given season.

Local Relaxation at the Presbytery
When you arrive at the Presbytery, you’ll find that we’ve included local information guides and maps for your reference. But you don’t need to go far to start enjoying this calm and soothing landscape. You’ll often see cows grazing in the meadows and you’ll simply love wandering down our tiny country lane to reach Withermarsh Green with just two picture postcard perfect thatched cottages located there. When you’re looking for a bit of local atmosphere, head to Stoke by Nayland, Polstead or Dedham to experience some of Suffolk’s finest pubs! For further ideas, you can also browse our ‘Things to Do’ section of the website to be inspired by a variety of activity ideas so that you’re able to unwind in our beautifully scenic region.

On arrival you will be treated to a Welcome Basket containing free-range organic whole milk, fresh locally baked loaf and cake, jar of marmalade, slab of butter, choice of two cereals and a bottle of wine to wash it all down.
The kitchen is equipped with tea, coffee, sugar, dish soap & tablets, and hand soap. For the fire we give you a generous box of logs, with lighters and kindling, and more can be requested.
All bedlinen is 100% Egyptian cotton and pillows are feather & down (two per guest). All guests also get 100% cotton towels that are large, white and generously threaded and accompanied by White Company toiletries and plenty of loo paper.
There is an iron and board, hairdryer and ample clothes storage in drawers and on coat hangers. Highchair and travel cot are available.
